Belinda Harris-Reid (knit-wear designer, promoter of hand-knitting design events and has her own yarn range) and Rachel Vowles (RV - freelance Technical Editor for various knitting and crochet magazines and publishers including Knitting Magazine and Inside Crochet) are hosting great get-away knitting/crochet and up-skilling sessions/kick-off-your-shoes relaxing retreats.

Belinda Harris-Reid and Rachel Vowles host their Knitting and Crochet Retreats in Fru Goudge's exquisite, quintessentially English home in the heart of the Dartmoor countryside. Our retreats are open to everyone, from complete beginners to the highly experienced, with tuition tailored to individual needs.

Retreats include plentiful refreshments, home cooked lunch and a full Devon Cream Tea (with real Devon clotted cream and scones freshly baked in the Aga) all prepared by Fru in her farmhouse kitchen. With four poster beds, a roaring fire and plump squishy sofas, a Women With Wool retreat offers you the chance to luxuriate in knitting and crochet heaven.

Old England at its best;

sheep and chickens, a huge tree swing,

incredible views of the patch-work wonderland

of Dartmoor, warmth from a roaring fire,

dogs and Egg (the talking parrot),

gold framed Renaissance-esque oil paintings,

cosy soft sofas with piles of cushions and

of course lots of tea in china cups. Divine.

From casting-on to complex cabling, Belinda and Rachel are on hand throughout to guide complete beginners and help the more experienced develop new skills. Of course you may want to come simply to focus on your current work in progress. Our retreats are designed to suit everyone's needs.

Whether travelling alone or with friends, a Dartmoor Knitting and Crochet Retreat is the perfect way to relax, unwind, and indulge your passion for yarn with other like-minded folk.
